Dan

Background

Dan’s father was killed by Sagat after Sagat gouged out his eye. Dan grew up wanting revenge against Sagat and so trained to be a fighter with Gouken. He was expelled from Gouken’s dojo when his goal of revenge was discovered.

Dan went on to develop his own style of Gouken’s martial art, which he merged with aspects of Muay Thai kickboxing. Dan called this Saikyo-ryuu (“the Strongest Style” – rather ironic, because his techniques are completely weak).

Technique

Dan’s Saikyo-ryuu fighting style and moves mimic those of Ryu and Ken to a degree, though they are generally somewhat weaker. In Street Fighter 4 Dan’s techniques have been balanced more with the other characters (as opposed to earlier games in the SF series), making him a more useful character to play.
