Ken

Ken

Ken is the son of a wealthy American hotel magnate. He was sent to Japan to train under Gouken by his father at the age of 12. Ken became best friend and rival with Gouken’s other student, Ryu.

Ken returned to America in his early 20’s to compete in various tournaments. He later witnessed his master Gouken’s apparent death at the hands of Akuma. After being defeated by Akuma himself he vows to track Akuma down and begins his long search to find his master’s killer.

Ken enters the Street Fighter 4 World Warrior tournament to continue his search and to meet his old friend Ryu for a long-awaited rematch.

Technique

Ken is trained in the same martial art as Ryu. His moves are very similar to Ryu’s, though they have evolved over the Street Fighter series to have a number of unique signatures.

Ken’s special moves focus on his shoryuken (dragon punch), which has a wider horizontal reach and flaming multiple hits, as opposed to Ryu’s single hit shoryuken. Ken’s hadoukens (fireballs) are less powerful than Ryu’s and do not have knock-down ability.
